FAQ’s regarding Furlough Period

We were told that construction was an essential business and exempt, why the sudden change?

  • Frontier was advised by nearly all customers that projects were not shutting down, and that was consistent with what had taken place in other states with similar Shelter orders in place.  As further clarification took place with the state government our customers learned that the exemptions would not broadly include construction as originally anticipated.

As a furloughed employee, will I be eligible for unemployment?

  • All employees are encouraged to file for unemployment benefits as soon as possible with the Employment Security Department who will determine eligibility. Employees can file for unemployment by calling the unemployment hotline at 800-318-6022 or by applying online at www.secure.esd.wa.gov/home .  While on furlough, employees are not required to look for work.

How will I get my paycheck for the 3/27/2020 and 4/10/2020 paychecks?

  • If you have direct deposit, your paychecks will be deposited via direct deposit.

  • 3/27/2020 paycheck – Live checks will be available for pick up in the front office on Friday, 3/27/2020, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.  All live checks not picked up during this time will be mailed on Friday, 3/27/2020, to home addresses.

  • 4/10/2020 paycheck – Live checks will be available for pick up in the front office on Friday, 4/10/2020, between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. Furloughed employees will be paid for hours worked through 3/26/2020 (furlough date).

  • Eclipse paychecks will be mailed out as usual with tracking numbers to home addresses no later than the Wednesday before payday.

When will we be able to return to work?

  • As of now, the Governor’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order is in place for two weeks, through April 6th.  While no additional information is known at this time, it is widely believed that the order may be extended for a longer period of time.  So, as of now, we are unable to provide a probable return to work date.

How will I know when we are to return to work?

  • We will keep our employees abreast of Frontier Door and Cabinet’s operational status via Call-Em-Alls, phone calls, text messages, emails, and other means as necessary. Frontier Door and Cabinet have also created an informational page for all employees at www.frontierdoor.com to refer to for business updates. Employees will go to www.frontierdoor.com and click on the “Employee” tab on the top right to view company communications and information.  In addition, you can email employee@frontierdoor.com with questions.

Why are health care benefits going to expire at the end of the month?

  • Our benefits design contract with providers has strict limitations on how we administer the program and the rules for employee separations.  Frontier has been advised that we must adhere to the plan design which requires the coverage to end upon the month-end date following the furlough separation date.  Cobra provides the opportunity for employees with existing coverage to maintain their healthcare during this furlough period.

Will I be paid out for my PTO balance upon exit?

  • PTO balances will not be paid out upon exit; however, the balances will be available to employees upon our return to work

Will I have access to the building and my workspace during the furlough period?

  • All Frontier offices and manufacturing will be strictly off-limits to all furloughed employees during the furlough period.

My role allows me to work remotely via computer and network connection – may I still be allowed to work during the furlough period?

  • Furloughed employees are NOT allowed to conduct any work for Frontier and will not be asked to do so.  While most employees who have company issued laptops will maintain possession of those devices, we will be placing system access on hold as an additional limitation to ensure furloughed employees will not continue to work.

My role requires me to have access to certain company assets such as a vehicle, mobile phone, or company credit card – will I be required to turn these in during the furlough period?

  • We will not require those employees who already had been issued certain company assets to turn them in during the furlough period.  However, we expect that employees will exercise good judgment to limit the use of mobile phone services that will drive incremental fees.  Credit cards should NOT be used during this period of time, including fuel cards.  These cards may be placed on hold as an additional precaution to limit unintended or unauthorized use.  Furloughed employees should not use company vehicles at this time because you may not be covered under insurance.
